93I-40

Construction to improve the westbound Interstate 40 and US 93 Beale Street traffic interchange in downtown Kingman will begin Sunday (Aug. 21). In order to minimize travel delays, crews will work nights, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Work to construct a wider right-turn lane will require temporarily restricting left turns at the Beale Street exit. Motorists traveling westbound to Beale Street will be detoured around the construction zone to Andy Devine Avenue for approximately the next month. Detour signs will be clearly marked. A right lane at the Beale Street traffic interchange will remain open at all times during construction.

The $314,000 improvement project is expected to be completed in October. In addition to providing a wider right-turn lane, construction will include new raised median islands, a new traffic signal and roadway striping.

ADOT advises travelers to observe reduced speeds in the area and to watch for crews and equipment in the work zone. ADOT works to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
