The Arizona Department of Public Safety is
releasing new data gathered from their latest stepped-up enforcement campaign
against distracted driving and the numbers are staggering.

DPS Spokesman Raul Garcia says officers
investigated almost 310,000 traffic stops with almost 20,000 of those caused by
distracted driving and 2,400 collisions were attributed to distracted driving
between January and September of this year. Garcia warns that distracted driving can lead directly to a ticket and
he says they are using this information to work on ways to better identify the
problem and to educate the public on the dangers of distracted driving.
