A driver caught in a vortex of powerful flood waters is lucky to be alive after his car is swept off a road Tuesday afternoon. Buckeye Valley Fire Captain Cliff Turner says crews responded to a call about a man clinging to the roof of his car as the floods
pushed his car into a wash. Turner says, after crews scoured the area of Rainbow Valley road and Elliot where he was reported seen, they found nothing. But the search persisted until rescuers came across neighbors who tied a rope to the man’s car, pulling him to safety.
Turner says the man had been caught up in flood waters running three feet deep, up to four and five feet in other spots. The driver was not injured.
