Businessman Scott Dunton brought passion to last Tuesday’s Kingman City Council meeting. Dunton told Council members that marketing the Mother Road is key to community prosperity.
“I’m here to ask you to please support Route 66 for Kingman,” Dunton said. “It’s our best asset. It’s the most important thing that we’ve got going.”
Dunton questioned and checklisted three Council-approved expenditures, arguing the money would have been better spent in support of Route 66 tourism efforts.
“That’s a total of $300-000 we could have spent promoting Route 66 every day,” Dunton said. “We’ve got the best, best asset that our community could ever have for free.”
The Council did not respond to Dunton, unable to do so given limitations when hearing from citizens speaking during the “Call to the Public” portion of meetings.
