One Kingman man is charged with second degree murder in the death of another after a suspected drug overdose was determined instead to be a homicide. The Mohave County Medical Examiner ruled that Matthew Scott Porter, 23, died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Deputy Kingman police chief Rusty Cooper said Porter was found dead in a home of the 500 block of Windsor Avenue when officers responded to a call regarding an unresponsive male on May 19. He said investigation revealed that Porter had been assaulted the previous day by David Allen James, 33.
James was arrested Tuesday and booked into jail for second degree murder. Cooper said James was recently released from prison where he served time for fraud and theft.
