A family of four have survived a raging house fire in the West Valley.  Fire Captain Benjamin Santillan says the family and their two dogs escaped a fully-engulfed house fire when a neighbor jumped into action to save another dog hiding inside the house.  He says, “all of a sudden out of no where, a neighbor,

who is a Vietnam Vet, ran inside the burning house to try to locate this dog.”  The Good Samaritan was unable to find the dog and rushed from the house overcome by smoke.  He was treated for smoke inhalation and drove himself to the hospital for evaluation.  The elderly couple, their grandson and his girlfriend escaped without injury.  The dog scurried out from under the couch after the fire was put out.  The fire started in an “add-on” room of the house and the grandson is allegedly claiming responsibility for the fire over wiring in the additional room.  However, Santillan says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
