A small plane crash near Flagstaff has killed one person.  Captain Brian Katarles with the Highland Fire Department says the plane was heading north last night when it went down near Highway 89-A.  Several witnesses around Kachina Village and Forest Highlands called 9-1-1 when they heard a plane sputtering in the air

and then they heard the loud boom of a crash.  Katarles says the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and DPS arrived near the scene and smelled the fuel which led them to the crash site where wreckage was splattered 60 years from 89-A.  The pilot, who was pronounced dead on the scene, has not been identified. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the NTSB.
