The Bullhead City Fire Department (BCFD) is expressing its gratitude to the Fort Mohave Tribal Police Department for donating thousands of dollars’ worth of new dive equipment to the Bullhead City Dive team. The equipment will greatly enhance the quality of the fire department program and will assist in offering additional service to people in need on our waterways.
As temperatures begin to climb, local waterways become extremely busy on any given day or time. Having the proper gear is vital for first responders both in training and when responding to emergencies.
The BCFD dive team currently has thirteen members, two of whom are from the Fort Mohave Mesa Fire Department. All BCFD divers are trained as public safety dive specialists through Dive Rescue International which is recognized by OSHA and the National Fire Protection Agency.
Dive team members train once a month, April through September. Training topics include witness interviewing, search patterns and techniques, scenario-based incident calls, equipment familiarization, underwater to topside communications, and quick response training from the station.
