A farm house at the iconic Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek goes up in smoke, along with cherished memories early Friday morning. Queen Creek Fire Deputy Chief Vance Gray says the fire was spotted by a passerby who called 9-1-1 around 4 a.m.
Gray says, when firefighters arrived, the building was so fully engulfed they had no choice but to battle the flames from the outside. Despite the severity of the damage, the Schnepfs were able to recover some documents from the building.
Gray says the farm house was used as a wedding chapel, but it also housed the Schnepf Farm offices. The Schnepf’s Facebook page says “everything that had to do with entertainment on the farm is gone.” Carrie Schnepf lamented in a tweet: “Today is the worst day of my life!!! 25 years of my life’s blood is in this building.”
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but there’s no indication this was arson.
