Mohave County is considering placing another rural fire district in the hands of a special administrator. The Board of Supervisors next Monday will discuss the possibility of securing a special administrator for the Oatman Fire District.
Supervisor Jean Bishop said the Oatman Fire District is plagued by lack of a quorum given the resignations of two of the District’s three board members. She said appointment of a special administrator might be necessary to fill the vacancies and return the District to operation by its three member board.
It was fiscal insolvency that saw the Board of Supervisors hire John Flynn to oversee operation of the Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire District Board in February, 2013. An election next May could return the LMRFD to control of an elected five member board.
