Local small businesses and volunteers have been working diligently over the past several weeks to coordinate a first-rate event for the Bullhead City residents. “First Friday is an event that takes place throughout the nation in cities of varying sizes – Chicago, Kansas City, Austin, and Phoenix are examples of larger cities, but smaller communities like our neighbors in Kingman have caught onto the First Friday tradition too!” Amy Spero mentions. Amy owns two local businesses, The Rink and Fresh Frozen Yogurt + Smoothie Bar, and is spearheading the First Friday event for Bullhead City. “To make First Friday an event the community will absolutely love, it takes work. Our team consists of dozens of small businesses and local residents stepping out to volunteer. And that’s what it’s really about – a community event put on by the community.”
On Friday, November 6th from 6pm-10pm, artists, vendors and craftsmen will line the walkways of Riverview Mall and a lineup of local and regional bands will play on the main stage. A beer & wine garden sponsored by Budweiser will serve up beer samples from a regional brewery (must be 21+ to drink). For the younger audience, the Kid Zone will be set up with the Pepsi Tent and a variety of kid-friendly activities. Even the Kid Zone will have an opportunity for local young artists to display their work.
Sunrise Elementary PTA is using the First Friday event as an opportunity to raise funds to support activities and resources for teachers and students by raffling off a Kia Spectra (used) at the event. “When Colorado River Ford was willing to donate a used car, we thought, ‘This is perfect!’ We can help members of the community while raising money for our school at the same time,” states Pam Cardinal, PTA Secretary and Student Grade Council facilitator. Raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for 5 and can be purchased any time between now and the event. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event or can be purchased at the following locations: Sunrise Elementary School, The Rink, Fresh Frozen Yogurt + Smoothie Bar.
For any small businesses, local volunteers, artists, vendors, musicians, entertainers, and schools that would like to get involved, contact the First Friday Group at FirstFridayBHC@gmail.com or call 928-299-9524. Proceeds generated from the Beer & Wine Garden benefit The Rotary Club and local youth sports.
