They’ll be dishing up and serving hundreds of free holiday meals this Thanksgiving at Redneck’s Southern Pit BBQ in downtown Kingman. It’s the 7th year that coordinator Jerry Carreiro and volunteers have conducted the campaign, thanks to the Floyd family by allowing use of the restaurant property.
“We served 549 dinners last year,” Carreiro said. He said it’s grown every year and they hope to serve between 600 and 700 meals this Thanksgiving.
Carreiro said the meal includes turkey, mashed potatos, dressing, cranberrie sauce, vegetables, a dinner roll and a desert.
“Everybody in the community’s invited,” he said. “Dinner will start at 11:00 a.m. and we’ll go until 3:00 p.m., or until we run out.”
Carreiro said they will try to deliver to those who are homebound or transportation challenged, provided they are located in the general Kingman area and not too far away. He said he can be reached by telephone (928-279-6382) to explore the meal delivery possibility.
Anyone wanting to contribute food or other donations or volunteer can also call Carreiro to make arrangments. The restaurant is located at 420 Beale St.
