Get a tasty fruitcake for the holidays?  If you think the fruitcake is similar to a cement brick in weight, you may want to toss it.  If your fruity pastry is being used as a paper weight, it’s okay to trash it.  Friends don’t let friends eat fruitcake! January 3, 2014 is National Fruitcake Toss Day!  A competition that involves the

much-beloved fruitcake and sheer strength, the first Fruitcake Toss Day was celebrated in Manitou Springs, Colorado in 1995.  Today, the fruitcake toss is a time-honored sport that’s celebrated across the country.  Based on distance, accuracy and target, a fruitcake can only be launched if it weighs a minimum of one pound and is only filled with fruits and nuts.  The longest toss on record occurred in January 2007 and came in at a whopping 14-hundred 20 feet.
