Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20 the occupants discovered a fire in the garage and evacuated the residence. The first arriving fire company reported fire and smoke coming from the garage door. The garage was separated from the residence by a breezeway with a common attic.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from entering the attic of to the residence. Three engine companies, one truck company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in less than 15 minutes.
The occupants evacuated the house safely and no injuries were reported by occupants or firefighters.
CERT responded to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene an additional 2 hours helping with salvage operations. Damages were confined to the garage and a restored vehicle inside the garage.
Firefighters’ were able to save over $700,000 in property. Damages to the garage were estimated at $135,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
