It’s been a roller coaster ride for Mark Mortenson, who was hired last fall to serve as the Chief Executive Officer for the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation (GCRC), the entity that manages the tourism ventures of the Hualapai Indian Tribe.
The GCRC board of director’s requested Mortenson’s resignation after he was involved in a hit and run traffic accident in Kingman just before Thanksgiving. The Hualapai Tribal Council intervened and kept Mortenson in his job while firing six of his board member bosses.
Four of those bosses claimed wrongful termination. Mortenson has subsequently resigned as CEO leaving the GCRC without a chief executive and without a board of directors.
Information requests are drawing no response from Mortenson, Tribal leaders or the GRCR spokesman.
