An elderly resident of Lake Havasu City allegedly used hidden cameras to view his teenage granddaughters. Richard Widman, 74, is charged with four counts of surreptitious videotaping.
Police Sergeant Kirk Cesena said Widman placed hidden cameras in a guest bedroom last July, one month before his 18-year-old granddaughter moved into the home at 2985 N. Eldorado Avenue.
“Richard asked a company to come out and repair the DVR/camera system and the repair person would not perform the work because of the hidden cameras and privacy issues,” Cesena said in an email. He said the suspect insisted that the technician perform repairs that led to discovery.
“The technician found video of Richard’s 18-year-old granddaughter nude in the bedroom,” Cesena said. “At one point, Richard’s 17-year-old granddaughter was also observed in the nude on the video.”
Cesena reportedly admitted to being a voyeur. A prolonged investigation and review of the case led to Widman’s March 13th.
