The Governor's Office of Highway Safety awarded the Bullhead City Police Department with grant funding in the sum of $11,454.00. In accordance with the grant outlay, these funds will be used to purchase three (3) radar units that will be installed in police patrol vehicles to enhance the Strategic Traffic Enforcement Program.
"Speed related traffic crashes are a continual problem in our community. Traffic studies have shown that directed traffic enforcement, targeting speed violators, reduces the number of speed related traffic crashes, said Scott Gillman, Bullhead City Police Department Traffic Section supervisor. ``Our goal is to educate the public about this problem and increase public safety on our city streets. These radar units will be a much needed and positive enforcement tool toward our ongoing traffic safety campaign."
