Tempe police are on the hunt for a gunman who shot at two passing cars.  Lieutenant Mike Pooley with Tempe Police says someone fired off a round at two cars traveling near the US 60 on Kyrene Wednesday night. He says a bullet whizzed through the windshield of one car full of young kids and nearly hit the

head of an eight-year-old sitting in the front seat. The bullet instead penetrated the seat of the child.  The second car was hit by a bullet minutes later.  No one was hurt.  Police have collected both bullet casings.  An investigation is underway to determine if there is any link to last summer’s freeway shootings.  Police will be out in force canvassing the area looking for any possible suspects.  Anyone with information is asked to call Tempe Police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
