chuckPresiding Mohave County Superior Court judge Charles Gurtler has been appointed to the Arizona Judicial Council, a policymaking body that oversees the judicial system in Arizona. Gurtler’s appointment will become effective on March 25, as he will be filling the unexpired term of retiring Judge John Nelson.

The Council was created in 1990 to assist the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice in the development and implementation of policies designed to provide a central direction for the administration of all courts, uniformity in court operations, and coordination of court services to improve the administration of justice in the state. The Council is empowered to identify the needs of the judiciary, study the internal operation of the courts, analyze and plan for future developments, and recommend uniform administration at all levels.
