The window has opened for anyone interested in challenging Rhonda Brooks for her board seat in the Golden Valley Fire District (GVFD) recall election scheduled
May 19. Prospective candidates can pick up nominating papers at the Mohave County Elections Office in Kingman. GVFD board member Steve Robinson qualified the special election for the proposed recall of fellow board member Brooks. The pair have been at odds over many matters in the politically volatile and contentious fire district. County Elections Director Allen Tempert said eligible and interested parties must collect 65 valid signatures on nominating petitions to qualify to run against Brooks. He said if no prospective challenging candidate submits nominating papers by March 20 the recall vote, which could cost the district up to $25,000, will be canceled.
