Earlene Mahar submitted nominating petitions in a bid to qualify as a candidate in the Golden Valley Fire District (GVFD) recall election. 65 valid signatures are required to make the ballot, and Mohave County Elections director Allen Tempert said there are 138 signatures on the petitions Mahar turned in on March 20.
Tempert said the petitions and signatures are presumed valid absent any challenge. The May 19 recall election will be conducted by mail.
GVFD board member Steve Robinson spearheaded the effort to subject board colleague Rhonda Brooks to a recall vote.
Tempert said the recall ballots will be mailed in late April to some 6,300 registered voters in the district.
