mcsar-logo-trans2A Las Vegas man who was injured while hiking in rugged terrain in northwest Arizona was rescued in dramatic fashion Monday. Sean Taylor, 39, used a cell phone to summon help when he injured himself in a fall on the rugged western slopes of Mt. Tipton, just southeast of the community of Dolan Springs.
Mohave County Search and Rescue personnel deployed about 4:30 p.m. to the area where Taylor injured his head and one of his hands when he fell while descending a steep canyon toward a trailhead. Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said it took a rescuer about four hours to assist Taylor down the mountain to a point where helicopter rescue was possible.
Carter said the Department of Public Safety Helicopter hovered in the air as the rescuer helped Taylor step from a rock onto a skid and up into the cabin of the aircraft. Taylor was flown to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
