A high profile sex offense case will likely go to trial because the defendant is too old to accept a plea agreement dictating a 30 year prison term. That’s what public defender Robin Puchek said during an April 7 status conference in the case against Jerry Gilligan.

The 70-year-old Gilligan is charged with assault, kidnapping and sex offenses for alleged crimes he committed upon his wife and 11-year-old step-son.

The alleged Kingman offenses occurred about three years after Gilligan was released after spending more than two decades behind bars for killing his step-father in Tucson.
