Attorneys presented opening statements Wednesday in the trial of a former Bullhead City police sergeant charged with the alleged rape of a 21-year old woman who had been his criminal justice class student at
Mohave Community college. Jesse Hoag, 38, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.
Lawyers involved in the case agreed that some consensual sex occurred after Hoag and the woman enjoyed beers together at a bar in Laughlin in October, 2014. The prosecutor insists that the victim was raped after telling Hoag to stop, while the defense contends the woman was not subjected to forcible sex.
The trial before Judge Billy Sipe will continue into next week at the Mohave County courthouse.
