A Kingman man charged in the December, 2013 death of a roommate to whom he provided healthcare has been found competent to stand trial. The December 22, 2014 ruling by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn came following the testimony of Dr. Ernest Harman. Dr. Harman told the Court that Robert Adkins, 52, appears to be well versed in some mental health maladies and medications used to treat them. But he also testified that Adkins also understands the legal system and is well equipped to assist legal counsel in defending him in legal proceedings. Adkins is charged with second degree murder in the beating death of Michael Sudkamp. Police said the 53-year-old victim suffered 27 rib fractures and other injuries. Trial for Adkins is scheduled February 3 rd.
