In an effort to protect its patients, employees, volunteers and visitors from exposure to seasonal illnesses such as the influenza virus and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), Havasu Regional Medical Center is implementing visitor restrictions based on recommendations from the Mohave County Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The restrictions, which were developed in accordance with guidelines provided by the State Department of Health Services and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and fully supported by Lake Havasu City pediatricians, are effective immediately and will remain in effect until the CDC removes them.
The visitor restrictions are: (1) Do not visit the hospital if you have signs of possible flu, including runny nose, cough fever, etc. and (2) Children ages 12 and under are not permitted to visit the inpatient units unless they are seeking medical care or have special circumstances.
Children may remain in the lobby waiting area but must be accompanied by an adult. Additionally, visitors are asked to wash their hands before entering a patient’s room and upon leaving. Sinks and waterless hand sanitizers are available on all nursing units.
If patients come to the hospital for testing and have a cough, runny nose or other flu-like symptoms, faces masks will be provided to wear.
