The second phase of a $5 million project to rehabilitate two bridges on westbound Interstate 40 near Ash Fork is close to completion. On Monday (Sept. 14), crews will finish paving the westbound I-40 lanes between Exit 144 (westbound off-ramp) and Exit 146 (westbound on-ramp). Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
While one lane will remain open in each direction, motorists should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes. The speed limit will be reduced and drivers should be alert for construction vehicles and flaggers. After this paving, a crew will apply the final traffic lane striping over the next few weeks. This work will require minimal travel restrictions.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
