“If You See Something, Say Something™” is a national campaign that raises public awareness of the indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, as well as the importance of reporting suspicious activity to state and local law enforcement. The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to remind citizens to report all suspicious activity to the police department. The Lake Havasu City Police Department will investigate the incident and relay all pertinent information to Arizona Counter-Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC). ACTIC is comprised of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, fire departments, intelligence analysts, military intelligence, information technologies and other departments.
According to ACTIC, there are several signs of terrorism that citizens should know about to help stop a potential terrorist attack.
Surveillance – Terrorists often record or monitor activities. This may include the use of cameras, note-taking, drawing diagrams or maps.
Tests of Security – Attempts to measure reaction times to security, penetrate physical security barriers, monitor procedures, and assess security.
Rehearsal – Terrorists will put people in position and move them around according to their plan without actually committing the terrorist act.
Suspicious Person Out of Place – People who don’t seem to belong in the workplace, neighborhood, or in a particular building or area.
Breach/Attempted Intrusion – Unauthorized personnel attempting to enter or actually entering a restricted area or protected site.
Expressed or Implied Threat – Communicating a spoken or written threat to damage or compromise a facility/infrastructure.
Aviation Activity – Operation of an aircraft in a manner that reasonably may be interpreted as suspicious or posing a threat to people or property. May or may not be in violation of Federal Aviation Regulations.
“If You See Something, Say Something™”. Please report all suspicious activity to the police department and do not try to interfere with an individual or group of individuals who are acting suspicious. Call 911 immediately or the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch number at (928) 855-4111.
