tax scamMohave County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of ongoing IRS scams.  Residents have reported receiving telephone calls from a person from the IRS.  Scammer’s have many approaches to deceive you and get your money;

–       A lawsuit for owing back taxes to the IRS.

–       Must pay immediately for back taxes, otherwise a warrant will be issued for your arrest.

–       The Sheriff will be at their residence today to arrest them, unless payment is received today.

Scammer’s will urge you to pay immediately via a credit card, green dot cards, a money order, a cashier’s check, etc.

Always double-check before sending money or giving your account numbers.  For more information or to report a scam, visit:  www.irs.gov  Furthermore, your first contact with IRS will not be a call from out of the blue, but through official correspondence sent through the mail.

The IRS and the Sheriff’s Office do not conduct business in this manner.  If you suspect fraud, contact your local law enforcement office.
