It took about six hours for Kingman police to catch the man who robbed Compass Bank on Monday, November 28. Deputy police chief Rusty Cooper identified the suspect at Joshua Abbott, 29, Kingman.

Abbott allegedly entered the bank at 3320 Stockton Hill road at 3:45 p.m., wearing dark clothes, a beanie and sunglasses. Cooper said Abbott intimated he possessed a weapon and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Several citizens recognized Abbott from the bank surveillance images that the police department posted on its Facebook page. Abbott was located and arrested at about 9:45 p.m.

Cooper said Abbott apparently paid off undisclosed debts and only possessed a small portion of the stolen loot at the time of his arrest. In addition to armed robbery, Abbott faces charges including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of prescription pills.
