A new era in customer service provided to the citizens of Kingman has begun! The Kingman Fire Department unveiled and rolled out Squad 2; a utility type vehicle designed for rapid response to EMS calls.

Squad 2 will be in service Monday through Friday from 10:00am. to 6:00pm and will run calls primarily in KFD districts 2 and 3.

“ Squad 2 has been our plan for the last three years and has come to fruition through an in depth look at our call types and volumes,,” said Kingman Fire Chief Jake Rhoades. “This unit will take a lot of stress off of our already overwhelmed Station #22 crews.”

The program is a pilot program designed with a 30-60-90 day evaluation period. Squad 2 is only a part of the continued effort by Kingman Fire to enhance the city coverage; the first part of the plan, “Priority Dispatch” was put into service last October.

“With Priority dispatch and Squad 2, we are able to put the right resource at the right call at the right time. We are evaluating these programs using our current fulltime personnel; the use of our part-time personnel allows us to supplement staffing,” Rhoades said.

Veteran Kingman Fire Department Captain, Rink Gordon will be the initial Captain assigned to the squad. “Captain Gordon is an excellent candidate for the initial term, his experience is a huge asset when providing us with what works and what doesn’t within the program,” Rhoades said.
