download (75) Kingman City Manager John Dougherty said it’s not yet been decided whether the city will once again host the traditional, annual community fireworks show on the 4th of July. The show has continued despite discussions of shutting it down over the years because of liability and cost concerns. The City is currently one of the defendants named in a lawsuit over the injury accident that occurred during Kingman’s 2013 fireworks show. Accordingly, Dougherty said the Mohave County Fairgrounds Association will no longer permit the event to be held on the fairgrounds property.  Dougherty said there’s money for the show in the city’s budget despite the disbanding of the volunteer group that raised money to fund the show in recent years. Dougherty said he’ll soon be looking for discussion and direction from the City Council regarding fireworks in conjunction with Independence Day this July.
