The Kingman Police Department responded to a report of two stranded hikers in the mountains located near White Cliffs shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17. The initial reports indicated a female hiker had suffered an injury to her foot and hand.

In the process of summoning assistance the male hiker also suffered a medical condition.

A contingency of officers and K-9 unit began a search of the area with the assistance of ADOT Enforcement and Arizona DPS Ranger. Both of the hikers were located on the mountain top behind Palo Christi Elementary School.

DPS Ranger transported both the 18 year old male and 20 year old female Kingman residents to the Kingman Regional Medical Center for medical evaluation.

During the course of the search, K-9 Amigo suffered significant heat exhaustion. He was immediately transported to a local Veterinarian Clinic for care and remains under treatment at this time.
