Kingman Police arrested David Arron Perez, 43 of Kingman, in the 2400 block of Kemp Avenue Wednesday shortly before 8 p.m. on suspicion of felony charges of forgery and resisting arrest, and misdemeanor false reporting to law enforcement.
Kingman Police spokeswoman Jennifer Sochocki said Perez’s arrest happened after police were called to the 2200 block of Kingman Avenue in reference to a male attempting to cash a fraudulent check.
The male suspect, later identified as Perez, left in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted near Crozier Avenue and Dawes Street, said Sochocki.
Perez then reportedly fled on foot and a short foot pursuit ensued before the officer stopped the Perez in the 2400 block of Kemp Avenue. Sochocki said while being taken into custody Perez resisted arrest and began to flee again, but was ultimately taken into custody after the officer deployed a Taser to gain compliance.
The investigation revealed that Perez had attempted to cash a fraudulent check which lists a company that doesn’t exist and a routing number for a different bank.
Subsequently, Perez taken to the Mohave County jail after he received medical treatment for the minor injuries received from the Taser deployment.
