Leadership Lake Havasu – the newest iteration of Havasu Leadership Development – is accepting applications until July 31 for the revamped class that has more than 300 alumni.
The successful program that started 17 years ago is changing with the times, based on recent work sessions with Chamber staff and former participants, led by Lyn Demaret and Nancy Darrow.
It’s more than just a name change. The class community project, which in the past has developed such improvements as lights on Main Street and various parks, will now shift to a community event, as determined by the class, for example.
Members of past classes will tell you that the nine-month program offers insights into the community, its leaders, it organizations and how things work that you don’t normally get in day-to-day business activity. Program participants gain contacts within their group as well as learning where some of the hot buttons are pushed in local government and agencies – and who’s pushing those buttons.
In turn, successful completion of Leadership Lake Havasu brings benefits to the employer – a more knowledgeable employee.
The application is online at and it’s easy to find – on opening page, look for the link “Leadership Lake Havasu Now Recruiting,” click on it and you’ll find a 15-page marketing piece that explains the program, its fee, scholarship opportunities and the application on the final two pages that may be filled out, printed out and sent in by the deadline.
