The philanthropic Legacy Foundation has presented another fat check for community betterment in Bullhead City. The $250,000 contribution made during the May 16 Bullhead City council meeting brings to $1.2-million that the Foundation has donated over the years for continued development of Rotary Park.
The latest contribution will help light portions of new soccer fields that have been put into play at the park. Dan Oehler, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, said it’s awesome to witness the fruit of its labor.
“We do this on behalf of our community but in particular our children,” Oehler said. “Certainly I think what gives us the extra urge to do these sorts of projects is going by Rotary Park and the soccer fields and seeing the hundreds, and many times thousands, of young people that are out there. And, in addition, the many hundreds if not thousands of parents that are there with them.”
Oehler commended Mayor Tom Brady, Parks Department staff and the city for helping develop a park facility that is as good as any in northern Arizona. Brady expressed thanks for the Foundation’s outstanding efforts to enhance the community.
Brady also thanked the Los Matadors, a civic group that has donated $50,000 for Rotary Park improvements.
