Lake Havasu City was hit with a power outage last Sunday when a fast moving monsoon stormed into town. The City would like to remind everyone they can be prepared for such an event by doing the following:
1) Visit the City’s website at www.lhcaz.gov and print a free Emergency Preparedness Guide. This guide discusses how to prepare yourself and your family for long term power outages and most other emergencies that can occur at any moment.
2) Sign up for emergency notices. Follow the links on the City’s website to the Police Department’s webpage. Click on the NIXLE link for information on how to get emergency notices on your computer or cell phone through NIXLE
3) REMEMBER: Do not call 9-1-1 unless you have a true emergency. The 9-1-1 center is inundated with calls during a monsoon, some of which are not emergencies. These non-emergency 911 calls may delay a response to someone who is in a life threatening situation.
Citizens who run a business or are responsible for a large group of people, such as a church group, civic group or club may contact the Fire Department for help developing a preparedness guide or presentation for their business or group.
Contact: Fire Chief Dennis Mueller or Division Chief Joe Davis at
