A lightning storm electrified last night’s monsoon that rolled into the central deserts. Captain M.D. Clark with the Scottsdale Fire Department says crews were putting out hot spots all over town due to lightning strikes. He says “there were multiple tree fires, multiple power line fires and then a house fire that kept crews
busy for hours.” One family was outside enjoying the monsoon when a lightning bolt struck their roof that set the attic on fire. The family ran back inside to grab their pets and made it out safely. Clark says there was significant damage to the home, but no one was injured.
