On March 22, 2015, officers responded to the 3200 block of McCulloch Boulevard North in reference to a burglary in progress. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect fled the area and could not be located. The victim reported that she left her residence for approximately twenty minutes. When she arrived home, she saw a white bicycle on the porch area. As she went inside, she saw a male subject walking down the hallway near the bedrooms. She recognized the male as Michael Brothers, who is the son of a family friend. After a short conversation, Brothers fled the area on the bicycle. During the investigation, police found that Brothers forced entry through the rear sliding glass door. It is also believed that Brothers took a fully loaded .38 caliber snub nose handgun and a Samsung tablet.
On March 24, 2015, at 10:40 p.m., detectives from the Special Investigations Bureau received information on the location of Michael Brothers. Brothers was located at a residence in the 2700 block of Bluewater Lane and was taken into custody without incident. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau served a search warrant at the residence and located a Samsung tablet case which was believed to be from the Samsung tablet taken from the burglary on March 22, 2015. Detectives also located the white bicycle that Brothers was believed to be riding during the burglary. The handgun that was taken during the burglary was not located.
Brothers was charged with burglary, theft, and a misdemeanor warrant out of the Lake Havasu City Court, and was held without bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
