bairdA prison term is guaranteed for a Golden Valley man being convicted in an alcohol-involved traffic fatality. Joseph Richard Baird, 52, pled guilty March 19 to manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities said Baird was eastbound on Highway 68 when he turned left in front of an oncoming motorcycle. The operator of the Honda motorcycle, Edward A. Miller, 75, Kingman was critically injured in the ensuing collision.

Miller died of his injuries at a Las Vegas hospital five days after the crash. Prosecutor Jacob Cote said Baird’s blood alcohol content, measure two hours after the collision, was more than twice beyond the legal limit.

Terms of the plea agreement require Mohave County Superior Court judge Steve Conn to impose a prison term of up to 12- 1/2 years at an April13 sentencing hearing.
