A death penalty child murder case pending in Mohave County Superior Court will be rescheduled to provide parties additional preparation time. 28-year-old Justin Rector faces a possible death sentence if convicted of the murder of his former girlfriend’s eight year-old daughter Bella Grogan.
Rector is accused of kidnapping, killing and burying Grogan in September, 2014. The case won’t get to trial any sooner than this summer.
Judge Lee Jantzen recently vacated the May 1 trial start. Jantzen has indicated he hopes to pick a new trial date during a June 2 status conference.
