MCC Read Across America 3Dr. Michael Kearns sat in front of a kindergarten class at Cerbat Elementary School on Friday, March 6. The young students were already familiar with the organization that Dr. Kearns leads: Mohave Community College. The kindergarteners knew that after elementary school, they would attend middle school, high school, and then college. They also knew that MCC’s Neal Campus-Kingman was down the street from their school. To celebrate the 18th annual Read Across America week, MCC President Dr. Michael Kearns read “Miss Nelson is Missing,” by Harry Allard and James Marshall to Jennifer Hannon’s kindergarten class at Cerbat Elementary School at 2689 E. Jagerson Ave. in Kingman. The National Education Association organizes the annual reading event to celebrate reading and the birthday of the children’s book author, Dr. Seuss. Cerbat Elementary School celebrated the week with a special lunch, classroom door decorations, certificates for reading accomplishments, and guest readers.
