Mohave County Sheriff’s Office placed Deputy Steven Armstrong on paid administrative leave on November 21, 2014, when the Sheriff’s Office learned that Armstrong was being investigated by Bullhead City Police Department for domestic violence, which he was later charged. The Sheriff’s Office internal investigation has determined the conduct of Deputy Steven Armstrong was not consistent within policy and procedures; therefore Armstrong was terminated on Monday (12/22). Steven Armstrong had been employed with the sheriff’s office since 1/6/2008.

On 11/21/14, Bullhead City Police Department was contacted by Ms. Janet Reed alleging she had been assaulted by her son-in-law, Steve Armstrong, at his residence. Bullhead City Police Department responded to the residence in Fort Mohave and interviewed Armstrong, who is currently employed as a Deputy with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office, upon notification by Bullhead City Police Department, placed Armstrong on paid administrative leave the same date the incident occurred.
On 12/1/14, the Sheriff’s Office received the Bullhead City Police Department report indicating Armstrong be charged with 3 misdemeanors, one domestic violence/assault and two domestic violence/disorderly conduct. Also charged in the case was his wife, Kimberly Armstrong, with domestic violence/disorderly conduct and the mother-in-law, who is the alleged victim of the assault, with domestic violence/disorderly conduct. Armstrong will remain on paid administrative leave while waiting determination of an internal investigation. The criminal case is pending the Bullhead City Police Department.
