The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Kingman Unit of Search and Rescue was on hand Saturday (10/3) during a safety fair at the Kingman Home Depot to answer questions and to demonstrate the various rope training techniques practiced by its members.

Rose and Kaufman explained how the Arizona Vortex and rappelling equipment is used to rescue people. The Arizona Vortex tripod system is utilized by SAR to rescue individuals from mine shafts and also to keep the rappelling ropes from dragging on the rocks at the crest of a cliff.
