The smell of BBQ will mix with the sound of music to set the stage for the 3rd annual Best Racks on the River event in Bullhead City. Event founder Pete Van Roy said 26 teams, a mix of professionals and amateurs, will compete for best rib barbeque bragging rights. “A first time backyard barbeque guy won it last year,” Van Roy said. “Anthing can happen.” A team of experienced judges will decide who prepares the best meat eats. The winner will earn $1,500 and a unique trophy. There is no admission charge for the event that occupies the parking lot of Jester’s Sports Lounge, at 877 Hancock Road. A $2 contribution purchases opportunities to sample some of the rib fare and some pulled pork. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Sampling is encouraged between 11:00 a.m. and noon while supply is available. Proceeds help fund Bullhead City Fire Department charities.
