public meetingOn Tuesday, October 20th at 4:30 there will be a meeting in the council chambers. The community has an opportunity to comment on the city’s code on Rentals and vacation rentals. Members of the community spoke out negatively regarding vacation rentals. Some citizens regard them as a nuisance with loud parties, curbs packed with garbage bags, and houses packed with people and front yards packed with cars. Currently property owners can rent their homes out through AIR BnB, and VRBO without a business license or a bed tax. The only way the city can regulate is through the noise ordinance or through violations in garbage collection. On the other hand, Vacation rentals have become a vital part of housing our communities weekend, and event travelers, and most importantly our winter visitors. For example Presidents day weekend 2016 will fill all of the hotels, motels, and vacation rentals combined. Come and let your voice be heard!
