An animal cruelty charge is pending against a distraught Mohave Valley man who allegedly stabbed his dog to death. Mohave County sheriff’s deputies responded Monday afternoon, November 14, for a welfare check on a possibly suicidal subject at a home in the 4300 block of Pima Drive.
Agency spokeswoman Trish Carter said Thomas Olroyd, 47, told arriving deputies that he was hearing voices and there were demons on his roof. “He said that he didn’t want to, but he killed his dog by stabbing him,” Carter said.
Carter said a dead dog was located and removed from the back yard of the property. Olroyd was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and possible referral for mental health services.
