The suspect who went on a shooting rampage in Mesa has been identified as 41-year-old Ryan Giroux. According to court records, Giroux has a lengthy rap sheet dating back 20 years.  He’s been arrested in California, Washington and Arizona for a series of crimes beginning with theft, burglary and aggravated assault.  Giroux

is also a known white supremacist who has “Skin Head” tattooed above his eyes, along his eyebrows.

Detective Esteban Flores with Mesa police says Giroux shot three people at a Mesa Motel room, killing one man.  He then ran across the street and shot an adult student and hi-jacked a teacher’s car.  The suspect then drove the stolen car to an apartment complex where he broke into someone’s home in a robbery attempt and shot the man inside.  Meanwhile, an officer discovered another shooting victim at another apartment complex nearby.  One victim remains in critical condition.  After an hours-long manhunt, Giroux was discovered hiding on a balcony of a vacant condo in Mesa and taken into custody.

The motive for the shootings is still unknown.
