A Lake Havasu City missings persons case has been cleared with a positive identification determination by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police sergeant Kirk Cesena said the coroner has confirmed that human remains discovered December 21 are those of Richard Scartozzi.
The 76-year-old who suffered from dementia went missing about seven weeks before an off roader located his remains and wallet in a desert area.
“The forensic pathologist was able to identify the dental records and skull as a match,” Cesena said. “The medical examiner listed the cause of death as a gunshot to the head.”
The case has been determined to be a suicide.
