An elderly man suffering from dementia who went missing days ago has been located several hours from his home. Deputy Ryan Inglett with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office says 77-year-old David Palmer borrowed a phone from a stranger at a gas station in Yecora, Mexico and called his wife.

Yecora is in a remote part of Mexico, about four hours southeast of Hermosillo. A detective sitting with Palmer’s wife was able to get enough information from Mr. Palmer for FBI agents to find him.  Detectives contacted Mexican authorities who responded to David’s location and found him.  Thankfully, the stranger who allowed Palmer to use his phone spoke English and stayed with Palmer until authorities could catch up with him. Palmer was safely returned to his loved ones after the FBI picked him up from Mexican authorities.
